My Insane and Bold Prediction of the Week

Every week, I’ll make a crazy but somewhat legitimate prediction for an upset in the college football world.

Last week I took Texas Tech over #6 Texas. The Longhorns struggled, but eventually pulled away late in the game to win 24-14. I really felt like Texas Tech could have challenged Texas for this game if Taylor Potts hadn’t suffered a wrist injury. It was clear that he was affected, but he was the best option they had. Still, Texas has played good defense this year. That’s really about the only thing they’ve done well.

The Insane and Bold Prediction is 0-2 this year.

This week’s upset special:

Kentucky upsets Florida in The Swamp.

The Line: Florida -14

Kentucky hasn’t beat Florida since 1986 and they have lost 15 games in a row in Gainesville. Florida won in Lexington 31-6 last season. Still, the Gators have been sluggish on offense and they have been especially sluggish in the first half of games this year. Kentucky has been very efficient on offense this season. They are ranked 13th nationally in total offense.

The Gators have been stingy and opportunistic on defense forcing 12 turnovers. Ten of those 12 turnovers are interceptions. Kentucky quarterback Mike Hartline will be the best QB the Gators have seen so far this year. The Wildcats will test the Gators and if they get off to a hot start, we could have an upset in the making.

Final Prediction: Kentucky wins 31-30

  1. These are my favorite posts! I always hope the prediction will come through– because, after all, who doesn’t love a good upset? (unless it’s Alabama, of course)
