Trey Burton breaks Tim Tebows’ Record

Tebow scored 5 touchdowns in a game against South Carolina in the 2007 season, the same year he won the Heisman.

Trey Burton broke Tim Tebow’s record for touchdowns in a game Saturday night against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Burton ran for five touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass despite barely eclipsing 100 total yards.

Burton’s Stats vs. Kentucky:

  • 1/1 passing, 42 yards
  • 5 carries, 40 yards, 5 TDs
  • 5 catches, 37 yards, 1 TD

His longest play from scrimmage (besides the pass) was 12 yards, but he averaged 7.7 yards per touch. (10 touches, 77 yards) Make no mistake about it, Burton is a threat. He is a QB by trade and that makes him even more dangerous.

The game against Kentucky was his best performance by far as he came into the game with only 15 yards rushing on 6 carries. The 6’2, 222 lbs. Freshman out of Venice, FL now has 8 touchdowns on the year.
