  1. I like Kendall Hunter, but I would put Mallett in his spot right now.

On the top 25 – I think 5, 6, 7, and 8 are all interchangeable. But neutral site games between those 4 would be interesting games.

    1. Yeah, I’ve been considering Mallett lately. I’ve got him right behind Denard.

5-8 is definitely interchangeable — I just feel, even with the 1-loss, that Alabama is the better team.

  2. Like the top 25…

Question I’ve asked a few people: We’ll learn a lot about the Spartans this weekend but, what have Boise St. and TCU done that MSU hasn’t done this season (besides not be ranked in the preseason)?

If MSU wins at Iowa this week, you might want to add Kirk Cousins to your Heisman list as well.

    1. Cousins has been an under the radar guy. I need to add him and Robert Griffin III from Baylor to the Dark Horse list.

As for Michigan State, I think the biggest knock on them will be that they didn’t play Ohio State. I like the Spartans and they are every bit as deserving as TCU, Boise State and Oregon to be ranked higher. This is why I hate preseason rankings so much. You have teams that are already ranked very high because of what they did last season and then you have a team like Michigan State who works their way into the rankings, yet can’t advance into the Top 5 because the teams there are winning as well.

Maybe I give Boise State too much credit, but it’s only because I think they are a talented team. It’s probably one of their best teams in years, but I know there are a lot of people who hate Boise State and I can’t say it isn’t justified. The Broncos play the 81st toughest schedule in the nation, but they have proven they can play with anyone on the field. It’s just doing it on a week to week basis that gets Big Ten, SEC and PAC-10 folks all twisted up inside.
